Nordsøen Oceanarium

Northern Europe's largest aquarium, Nordsøen Oceanarium (North Sea Oceanarium), is located in Hirtshals and offers fun and educational experiences focused on life in the North Sea. With a total of 10,000 m² indoors, 5,000 m² outdoors, 75 aquariums, and more than 7,000 fish and other marine animals, it provides a full day's worth of adventures in the watery world.

The main attraction of the North Sea Oceanarium is the "Oceanarium," a massive aquarium with 4.5 million liters of water. The seals are also very popular, and you can see them up close through the large windows in the "seal tunnel."

In addition, there is a large outdoor area with playgrounds, crab fishing, amber hunting, and much more. Each season, the aquarium typically presents a new and educational theme that you can dive into and explore with the children.

The original museum dates back to 1984, and the "Oceanarium" was added in 1998. However, in 2003, a large fire destroyed the new building, including the massive aquarium and its marine life. Everything was subsequently rebuilt, and today, the North Sea Oceanarium is a modern, well-visited attraction.
