Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse

Experience one of Northern Jutland's most iconic and popular landmarks – the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse. Standing 60 meters tall, it marks the highest point of the Lønstrup Cliff. Even when standing at the base of the lighthouse, you will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by the stunning and dramatic natural scenery that surrounds you.

Feel the rush of nature’s forces as you look out over the water, which relentlessly erodes the cliffs in a fierce battle. It is expected that the lighthouse will eventually collapse into the sea by 2020. A new staircase now allows visitors to ascend to Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse, offering a breathtaking view of the dramatic cliff landscape from above.

Further up the coast once stood the Mårup Church, but it too succumbed to the sea, just like the fate awaiting the lighthouse. However, you can still see the outline of Mårup Church, preserved by coastal protection efforts.

The entire area is steeped in history and particularly tells the story of nature’s powerful forces!
